This weekend I found myself in a predicament. This doesn’t have anything to do with home improvement or saving money but I decided to write a post about it anyway. My wife and I were having guests over and were planning to have wine with our meal. However, our wine opener was no where to be found and our guests were due any minute. I went out to the garage to see what I had available and here’s what I came up with. I drove a 3 inch screw into the cork, placed the bottleneck through the rung of my ladder, and pried up with a hammer. Then with a satisfying POP the bottle was uncorked and the party could begin. Then I got online and looked up other ways to open a wine bottle without a corkscrew. Who knew a shoe would be part of the equation…
